Imagine being single and looking for your “someone special” – much like being in business and looking for an ideal customer.
What are the attributes of your ideal mate? How are you going to attract and connect with this person? What are your best attributes – the ones that will be your “best foot forward” and most alluring? The maxim “when you want to find a bear, look in the woods” still holds.
Let’s say you like both kinds of music – country AND western. Jazz, rock, and other genres just aren’t your thing. Take a shower, put on your best boots, and head to a great country bar.
Inbound marketing is sitting at the bar putting out your mojo while waiting for an attractive person to start a conversation with you.
Outbound marketing is approaching an attractive person and starting a conversation. Tip…start by giving something of value. Send over a PBR, perhaps?
Both approaches require the same prep work. Be clear on who, why, and how.
Neither approach is a guarantee you’ll get lucky and either can go terribly wrong. What if the inbound approach attracts the ugly ones? What if the person you approach is happy being single or turns out to be a little crazy?
